Gurugadi

"Kori pati ma Bowo Akshar Ukelo
Oliyo che Avtari re Jee."

Such was the child, who at 16 left home for Sanyas (renunciation) and in search of truth. Curiosity and the search for truth took him to Girnar, where he spent a couple of years in meditation and self search. It was then he came in contact with Girnari Guru Gebi Bawa and it was like he found had finally found the path he was looking for.

Accepting Gebiguru as his Sadguru, he followed his preaching and took to implementing them in his life.

He started travelling with his Guru, people were impressed with his preaching and they always left a couple of souls changed.

He finally travelled to Ahmedabad. About 7 kms away from it is Hathijan, which was the centre of around 200 small villages. Amidst nature, with a pure and clean atmosphere he could foresee just the right kind of ashram he had in mind for the kind of Sewa he wanted to do. And so the foundation stone of "Amardham" was placed, now it boasts a huge structure with a free dispensary for the neighbourhood.

Here many doctors provide consultancy and work hard towards creating medical awareness amongst the common people. Bhojanalayas, Tea stall and Chaach Centre opened for visitors as well as for the poor farmers who work in the nearby fields provide succour to the people. No one is stopped and neither is anyone invited. Any hungry stomach can walk in and have their fill whenever they want. It also houses about 100 rooms that are given out to people who need shelter, besides a huge Satsang hall where devotees get together in the evening to do Bhajans. Here the peacocks strut around proudly eating peanuts from the palms of kids who they grew up with. Add the deep sultry voice of LalBapa, some soft music, some Dhuns and you have a haven of peace on earth.

Not only humans, animals are taken special care of too. They have established a Gaushala where 400 cows are herded and provide milk, buttermilk and ghee free to the nearby villages. Special care is taken of them.

About 200 villages where facilities for education, health care, drainage and even basic amenities like water are inadequate, surround the Amardham Lal Gebi Ashram at Hathijan. The Ashram aims to serve these downtrodden people.

It takes care of t
heir need of primary, secondary and higher education, has instituted an easily accessible hospital with modern facilities. Hundreds of social workers work day and night towards the realizing of a golden dream of emancipation.

You are welcome to visit the Ashram and Gurudev whenever you are in the area.

The Ashram has not only limited itself to one particular area. There are ashrams of Gurudev in Junagadh, Surat and other regions too.
