Shri Chandrasinh Mirani

Shrimati Deevyaben C. Mirani

Lohana settlement in Bombay dates back to the early rule of The East India Company, when Bombay (now Mumbai) was a small fishing village on the West coast of India facing Arabian Sea. The land surrounding it was under Maratha influence and was ruled by descendents of Shivaji Maharaj, a great patriot.

In such a land, on 24th March 1936 at Ghatkopar , Velabai the wife of Hansrajbhai Mirani gave birth to bright future Lohana leader and philanthropic son fondly called 'Bababhai', who grew as Chandrasinh Mirani ,a cotton king of Bombay. Bababhai's birth was not celebrated as a family occasion but as a joyous occasion of Ghatkopar neighbourhood as wished by his pious mother Elba. He passed his childhood very happily in a well-cultured family environment of the neighbourhood. Side by side there was also a competitive atmosphere of 'survival of the fittest'.

Chandrasinh after passing his 'Metric' was admitted to Sydenham College of Commerce in Bombay where he showed outstanding results. After completing his education Chandrasinh joined his family business of Messrs. Khimji Visram & Sons, a firm of international repute dealing in cotton the world over since last 125 years. Bababhai is an authority on cotton and its varieties, which earned him a place in the Cotton Advisory Board of the Government of India. He is a life-President of 'COTAP' research foundation and served as the President of East India Cotton Association and is the current Vice-President of Indian Merchants Chamber, Bombay.

Besides his keen interest in Cotton Industry, Chandrasinh in collaboration with Japan, set up a gelatine and chemical industry in Vapi, Gujarat and is the chief administrator of a cotton spinning Mill in 'Karur' South India. In Saurashtra in 'Padadhari' Chadrasinh established K.V. Cotton Ginning & Pressing Mills with latest machinery. Thus proving himself a great industrialist.

Chandrasinh with a rich cultural and religious heritage from his parents also took active part in the Educational and Medical fields in Bombay, serving Sir H. N. Hospital as its Chairman. Mirani Family's contribution to Matushri Velabai and Matushri Shantaben unit in Hindu Sabha  The Hospital in Ghatkopar is praise worthy. Bababhai's honorary service as a Trustee of various charitable organizations is second to none.

The deep-rooted religious nourishment imbibed by Velabai, his mother during his childhood fruited in the form of service to Shri Anandaba Seva Ashram and dedication of main entrance of 'AKSHARDHAM' to Shri Swami Narayan Hindu Mission Ahmedabad through H. H. Pujya Pramukh Swami is a feather in his humane hat.

His wife Deevyaben an outstanding personality, daughter of a highly respected Somaiya family of Bombay, she supports in all his noble causes and brings brightness to the Community.
